Kenya Tops Global AI Usage Chart as Communities Turn to Tech to Fight Literacy Crisis

The East African country has ranked first worldwide in artificial intelligence usage, ahead of Morocco, Brazil, and the Philippines, according to the latest digital trends report.

The adoption of AI is spreading beyond urban centers, with community‑based organizations like the Amani Community Based Organization in Mount Elgon using digital tools and AI to address declining literacy among young people.

In an interview with Sputnik Africa, Project Coordinator Alex Kiptorus said the ranking reflects a positive reality: Kenyans are embracing technology to solve everyday problems.

However, he also warned of challenges such as data privacy and misuse of information, noting that government frameworks are in place to regulate responsible use.
