Russian Health Experts Arrive in Burundi to Probe Unknown Illness

A plane carrying seven specialists landed at Bujumbura airport, Burundi's Health Ministry told Sputnik Africa.

▪The first cases were reported in late March in the commune of Mpanda. Currently, five deaths and 35 cases have been reported.

▪Symptoms include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, and abdominal pain. Some severe cases also show symptoms of jaundice and anemia.

▪Tests have ruled out Ebola, Marburg virus, yellow fever, and Rift Valley fever. Its origin remains to be determined.
