Russia Helps Burundi Fight Epidemics via Training & Mobile Laboratories: Burundian Institute's Head
The National Institute of Public Health of Burundi (INSP) relies on a mobile laboratory provided by Russia for field testing, Joseph Nyandwi, director of the institution, told Sputnik Africa.
"It enables field testing in areas farthest from the INSP. Additionally, this laboratory supports disease surveillance within the framework of cross-border monitoring. For example, the laboratory was deployed at the Kobero border during the Marburg disease outbreak in Uganda and Tanzania," he noted.
The Russian-Burundian Research Center for Infectious Diseases symbolizes this collaboration, Nyandwi added.
Russia provides additional support, including:
reagents for advanced testing;
training on laboratory techniques.
