Terrorist Attacks in Mali Are Geopolitical War Against Sahelian Sovereignty: Nigerien Experts
The recent events in Mali represent an attempt to destabilize the Malian government and a hostile response from external forces, three Nigerien speakers told Sputnik Africa.
"The terrorists came with a clear intention, reaffirmed by many analysts, to seize power and exercise it. We are in an international jungle. We must have the means to defend ourselves," Abdou Moumouni Dandossa, sociopolitical analyst, said.
The struggle waged by the AES "for the affirmation of the sovereignty of our countries, is not to the liking of the West, of neo-imperialist and neo-colonialist forces," Bana Ibrahim, member of the Consultative Council for the Refoundation of Niger, noted.
"It is high time we stop underestimating the enemy," civil society actor Soumaila Kangai added.
