15 Rescued After Attack on Unregistered Orphanage in Central Nigeria: Local Gov't
The Kogi State Government has condemned as “unfortunate and avoidable” the attack on an unregistered orphanage and school in Zariagi, near Lokoja.
"15 pupils have been rescued following the swift intervention of security agencies, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims," as reported in the statement of the Kogi state.
The facility, Dahallukitab Group of School, was operating illegally in a remote area without state or security agency approval.
The attack occurred late Sunday, when gunmen abducted 23 children and the wife of the orphanage’s owner.
