Large-Scale Security Sweep Underway in Mali, Military Says
A major operation is in progress across Bamako, Kati, and other areas hit by a terrorist armed group attack on April 25, the Malian Armed Forces reported.
16 people—including civilians and soldiers—were injured, the situation is now under control after security forces neutralized several attackers, the government reported.
Nightly curfews are currently in effect in both Bamako (9:00 PM to 6:00 AM until April 28) and the Gao region (7:30 PM to 6:00 AM), with authorities noting that both measures may be extended, media said.
Citizens have since been seen expressing their public support for army personnel following the incident.
