Niger Implementing Reform on Carrying of Firearms
This draft decree aims to correct the shortcomings of the legal framework in force since 1963, which has become obsolete in light of security, social, and economic developments, the government said.
It plans to:
▪ define the conditions for acquiring weapons and obtaining various permits;
▪ ensure enhanced control of weapons in circulation on the national territory;
▪ regulate their use based on objective criteria, including medical fitness and professional or security needs;
▪ improve the traceability of weapons and specify the responsibilities of permit holders.
