The level rose to 60.96% from 55.22% in 5 years in Western and Central Africa, the International Civil Aviation Organization Safety (ICAO) 2025 Report said.

By end‑2024, 15 countries in the region had certified at least one international airport in terms of safety, it noted.

Several figures indicating upgraded EI* scores, according to the report:

Côte d’Ivoire: from 79.84% to 93.89%;

Nigeria: 91.45% (after the recent audit)

Senegal: from 63.26% to 84.89%;

Sierra Leone: from 16.03% to 72.66%;

*In this context, “EI” stands for “Effective Implementation” — a key ICAO safety metric used in the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program.
