This 4×4 truck “can reach locations where other vehicles cannot access,” Dzeret Indolo Ghislain told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the Second Russian-African International Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases.
“Therefore, this laboratory was designed to be positioned closer to the epicenter of any epidemic,” he added.
With its P3‑level containment, this equipment makes it possible to handle high‑risk infections safely, using adequate biosafety measures.
Congolese staff working at the laboratory have been trained by Russian specialists, Ghislain added.
The conference was held in Brazzaville by the Russian sanitary service, Rospotrebnadzor.
