Nigeria's President Asks Parliament to Approve $516 Million Foreign Debt for New Highway

The money is necessary to finance a major national transport corridor, connecting the country's northwest Sokoto state with the southwest town of Badagry in Lagos.

“The Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway is a flagship infrastructure initiative designed to open up Nigeria’s northwest–southwest economic corridor through the construction of an approximately 1,000-kilometer high-capacity carriageway,” the president's letter read.

The highway is supposed to bring various economic and social benefits, according to Tinubu.

The video shows Nigerian senators discussing the project.
