The 825‑meter Senqu Bridge, the longest in Lesotho, was officially inaugurated during a working visit by President Cyril Ramaphosa, who joined King Letsie III in Mokhotlong, the South African presidency said in a statement.
"The joint ribbon cutting marks an important milestone in the partnership between South Africa and Lesotho," the presidency said.
The $146.8 million structure is a critical component of Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, which will increase water transfers to South Africa from 780 million to 1.27 billion cubic meters per year and boost Lesotho’s hydropower capacity.
