Russia to Help South Sudan Organize December Presidential Election
Preparing for its long-delayed presidential election, now scheduled for December 22, South Sudan will receive Russian assistance that includes:
Training for South Sudanese National Elections Commission members in Russia;
The South Sudanese president's administration announced the cooperation following a meeting between Minister of Presidential Affairs Africano Mande Gedima and Russian Ambassador to Juba Aleksandr Kosmodemyansky.
During the meeting, both sides stressed strengthening bilateral political, economic, and cultural partnership.
The presidential election — postponed twice since late 2022 — will see incumbent Salva Kiir seek another term.
