Africa Can Seize Energy Crisis Opportunity: Expert
The Middle East conflict has boosted Africa’s strategic value as a reliable oil supplier amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Osei Safi Boahemaa, expert on ECOWAS integration challenges, told Sputnik Africa.
Africa should use the current fuel crisis to achieve "lasting development and true energy sovereignty" through disciplined policies, she noted.
According to Boahemaa, Nigeria could supply fuel to neighboring countries as one of Africa’s energy giants, but West African states must create their own payment system to trade on their terms and strengthen regional integration.
However, Nigeria lacks strategic crude reserves and specialized professionals such as subsea engineers, the expert stressed. The country’s refinery model can become fully sustainable, if the government invests in:

🟠accelerating workforce training.
