Chadian Troops in Haiti: 'Chad's Military Capability is Undeniable,' Says Official
The deployment of Chadian soldiers to the island to combat the gangs proves that the world believes in "Chad's capacity to solve problems," Takilal Ndolassem, deputy of the 7th arrondissement of N'Djamena, told Sputnik Africa.
"Any action aimed at bringing peace to a brother country is a very good thing. It is at the request of the United Nations. We are going to send practically 1,500 soldiers out of the 5,000 in this force."
On Monday, Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby confirmed that two battalions, each composed of 750 troops, would participate in the UN-supervised Gang Suppression Force in Haiti.
