Ethiopia Plans to Unite Dam Engineers Under One Roof to Build National Expertise: Government
During the ongoing first Ethiopia Infrastructure and Construction Week in Addis Ababa, authorities announced a plan to consolidate professionals who have worked on major dams—including the GERD—into a single institution.
🟠Goal: Consolidate scattered knowledge and experience from past dam projects, said GERD Project Manager Engineer Kifle Horo.
🟠Vision: Enable Ethiopian engineers to work independently and eventually compete as international contractors.
🟠Support: The government will back the initiative, which also aims to preserve knowledge transfer and fix gaps in documenting expertise.
🟠Timeline: No specific date has been given for establishing the institution.
