Struggle for Equality & Social Justice Must Be Intensified: SA President
South Africa will push to put the fight against inequality at the center of the global agenda, President Cyril Ramaphosa stressed at the In Defence of Democracy Initiative during a working visit to Spain.
"Having received the endorsement of the African Union, South Africa will present a draft resolution on the establishment of the International Panel on Inequality for adoption by the UNGA during its 80th resumed session in 2026."
The panel concluded that inequality is neither inevitable nor permanent and that, through policy and determined action, it is possible to end it, he added.
"We call on all UN Member States, on all leaders across society, to lend their support to this initiative to ensure that we take forward the struggle to end inequality."
