Ghana Non-Traditional Exports Hit $5B in 2025: Ministry
The sector soared over 30%, reaching $5.006 billion in 2025 from $3.08 billion in 2024, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry reported at a specialized meeting.
Such exports now make up about 16% of total merchandise exports, Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare stated.
According to the minister, the ongoing export growth requires:
🟠boosting production capacity;
🟠upholding quality standards;
🟠improving finance access;
🟠tackling institutional bottlenecks
The export diversification is key to Ghana’s economic shift, noting that gold, crude oil, and cocoa historically dominated over 70% of merchandise exports as late as 2023, she noted.
Ofosu-Adjare highlighted the non-traditional export sector's huge potential, as Ghana shifts from raw materials to value-added goods.
