Egypt Recovers 13 Illegally Exported Artifacts From US: Ministry of Tourism

The recovery came within the framework of the Egyptian state's strategy to preserve its unique cultural heritage to ensure the protection of Egypt's legacy for future generations, said Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

The recovered artifacts are:

▶Distinguished by their diversity and historical importance;

▶Dated to various Egyptian eras, from prehistoric times to the Greco-Roman period;

▶Reflective of multiple aspects of religious, daily, and artistic life in ancient Egypt.

Among the most notable of the artifacts:

A kohl container in the shape of a monkey from the New Kingdom;

‍⬛ A cosmetic container in the shape of a cat from the Middle Kingdom;

‍ A statue of the goddess Isis in the form of Aphrodite dating back to the 2nd century AD.
