The recent establishment of the Gambia's embassy in Moscow, as well as the upcoming opening of Russia's embassy in Banjul, is going to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the countries, Ismaila Ceesay, The Gambia's Minister of Information, Media & Broadcasting Services, told Sputnik Africa.
"We have many Gambians who studied in Russia. We also have a lot of support from Russia to the Gambia from the post-colonial period. So I think it's important we further strengthen that bilateral relation. So opening embassies from both sides is a testament, and it demonstrates that both countries value and appreciate this relationship," he said, speaking on the sidelines of the 17th General Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting.
