'If You Don't Tell Your Story, Someone Else Will': Gambian Minister on Media in Africa
African countries should cooperate to counter the emerging threat of misinformation and disinformation, Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media & Broadcasting Services, told Sputnik Africa.
"Today our sovereignty is at risk. What comes into your country, the information that comes into your country, you have no control over it anymore," he noted, speaking on the sidelines of the 17th General Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting.
Ismaila Ceesay also called for greater coverage of African news by African media.
"So I think it's important we build our capacity, build our infrastructure, support our media landscape, make sure that we create our own content," the minister noted.
