Ethiopia Seeks to Assemble Satellites Domestically in Cooperation With Russian Space Agency

“We want to see satellites not only assembled, but also built, tested, and assembled on Ethiopian soil,” Director General of the Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute Abdisa Yilma said at the Yuri Gagarin memorial ceremony, Sputnik Africa reported.

Abdisa Yilma, who symbolically quoted Yuri Gagarin’s words “Let’s go!” called for urgent cooperation to conclude the agreement, noting that the center will serve as an aerospace technology hub for East Africa.

Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia Evgeny Terekhin affirmed Moscow's commitment to sharing decades of aerospace expertise with Ethiopia and Africa.
