Competitive Businesses in Townships May Contribute to SA's Economic Growth & Job Creation: Minister of Small Business Development
Small businesses in South African rural areas may unlock their trade potential, provided that the government invests in townships' capabilities, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams said, answering Sputnik Africa's questions on the sidelines of the 2026 National Local Economic Development Summit.
According to her, the South African government must focus on bridging the gap between the country's rural and urban areas by advancing infrastructure where people live, irrespective of the geographic region.
ℹ The summit is held on Wednesday and Thursday in Ekurhuleni, aiming to promote innovation, investment facilitation, and digital transformation as crucial elements of local economic development.
