Mauritius Pivots to Electric Buses With India's Support Amid Middle East Fuel Crisis: Gov't

The e-buses, handed over during a diplomatic engagement involving India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, will be deployed by Mauritius's state-owned National Transport Corporation.

According to the Mauritian government's statement, the bus fleet will

accelerate the country's low-emission transport shift;

cut fuel dependence;

boost efficiency.

With Middle East tensions disrupting global fuel markets, Minister Mahomed Osman Cassam Mahomed called on citizens to embrace public transport and carpooling as key measures to conserve fuel.
