US Leverages Ceasefire to Finish 'Mobilization' as Further Escalation Looms: Egyptian Military Expert
The military preparations include acquisition of weapons, missiles, and ammunition, Brigadier General Samir Ragib told Sputnik.
According to Ragib, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will develop as follows:
Europe may join the naval blockade only to ensure safe navigation, not to engage in combat;
If the strait is opened via agreement, pressure, or concessions, the conflict will remain frozen until a nuclear deal is reached;
If Iran uses force to block the strait, the conflict will revert to its pre-ceasefire state;
Iran can withstand a naval blockade in the short term, but a long-term one would place it under significant pressure.
While a "ground invasion" remains a possibility from the US perspective, the war will not resume under that scenario, as the US will instead consider other options—primarily a blockade—potentially leading to a major explosion in the region if bombings or clashes occur in the coming days, the expert added.
