Nigeria Convicts 386 Islamist Militants: Attorney General

The sentences—ranged from five years to life imprisonment—are "to send a clear signal to people involved in terrorism and terrorism financing," Lateef Fagbemi told reporters.

“There is no space for them [terrorists] here in Nigeria,” he stated.

According to Fagbemi, out of 508 cases presented to the Federal High Court, there were:

386 convictions,

8 discharges,

2 acquittals,

112 adjourned cases.

ℹ The prosecutions are part of a series of trials involving Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province. Boko Haram’s insurgency has killed tens of thousands and displaced over 2 million people.
