Nigeria Reassures on Security as US Orders Abuja Embassy Evacuation
Earlier, the US authorized non-emergency staff departure from Abuja embassy over security concerns across 23 Nigerian states.
Visa appointments in Abuja were suspended, but Lagos operations and emergency US citizen services have been maintained.
The Nigerian Federal Government acknowledged isolated challenges but noted that there was no breakdown of law and order, citing military and intelligence gains that have disrupted criminal networks and improved community safety.
“We encourage our international partners to continuously engage with Nigerian authorities to obtain a more comprehensive and current understanding of the situation,” Minister of Information & National Orientation Mohammed Idris added.
