Gas prices in Europe plummet after US-Iran ceasefire announcement

Natural gas prices in Europe plunged 18.5%, driven by reports of a ceasefire between the US and Iran, according to data from the London exchange group ICE.

May futures (front-month contracts) for TTF — the largest European gas hub located in the Netherlands — opened at $518.6 per 1,000 cubic meters (-18.5%)

Later, the price had slightly recovered to $529.3 (-16.8%)

The previous trading day's settlement price stood at $597.6

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks, assuring that the ceasefire would be mutual.
