'We Must Uphold His Legacy': Burundi Commemorates 32nd Anniversary of President Ntaryamira's Tragic Death

On Monday, Burundi paid a vibrant tribute to President Cyprien Ntaryamira, who died with his two ministers in a plane crash in Kigali in 1994, a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.

The ceremonies included a moment of reflection at the president’s grave and the laying of wreaths.

"We must uphold his legacy, that is to say discipline and avoid all forms of disorder; respect the law; and build a state governed by the rule of law," Jean de Dieu Mutabazi, founder and president of the RADEBU Party, told Sputnik Africa.

Burundian citizen Gabriel Banzawitonde noted that Ntaryamira is a person who deserves respect.
