Ethiopia Plans to Launch Free Transit Visa for Stopover Passengers
The initiative, which targets Ethiopian Airlines' more than 15 million annual passengers, allows them to stay in the country from 24 hours to seven days and explore local sights instead of waiting at the airport.
The scheme, together with the airport project in Bishoftu, will help position Ethiopia as a competitive global tourism hub, State Minister Sileshi Girma announced.
The planned program is a shared project by
the Ministry of Tourism;
Ethiopian Airlines;
the Immigration and Citizenship Service Ethiopia.
