'Our Countries Have Everything to Gain From This Process': Nigerien Expert on Tunisia-Sahel Land Corridor
Niger needs to diversify its entry points for imports, and the proposed land corridor project via Libya, recently put forward by Tunisia, fits perfectly into that vision, analyst Abdou Moumouni Dandossa told Sputnik Africa.
"Beyond the port of Cotonou in Benin, the port of Lomé, or even Lagos in Nigeria, can legitimately import goods to serve its domestic economy via, for example, Tunisian, Algerian, and Moroccan ports," he said.
He recalled that Morocco had also proposed a similar project to the landlocked Sahel countries.
Such initiatives, he said, demonstrate "a consolidated strategic framework for these countries to gain access to the African continental market."
