Promoting East Africa's Unity Language: Russia's University Celebrates Day of Swahili Culture

More than 300 participants from 13 countries gathered at the vibrant Day of Swahili Culture, hosted by the People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) on April 3, organizers told a Sputnik Africa correspondent, who attended the event.

The event aimed to promote the Swahili language and culture among RUDN students and the wider public, strengthen humanitarian ties between Russia and East African countries, and create a dynamic platform for intercultural dialogue.

The rich cultural program featured:

🟠exhibition of books, photographs, and artifacts from East African countries;

🟠poetry readings and musical performances in Swahili;

🟠presentation of projects on African studies by students from Russia's leading institutions, including IAAS, MGIMO, RUDN, RSUH.

The Day of Swahili Culture received warm and enthusiastic feedback on social media.
