Tanzania Fuel Prices Reportedly Jump 30% in One Month Amid Middle East Crisis
The country's Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority has raised the petrol price cap in April to 3,800 Tanzanian shillings ($1.46) per liter from 2,900 shillings ($1.12) in March, local media reported.
Diesel also climbed to 3,800 shillings, while kerosene reached 3,700 shillings ($1.42) per liter.
The sharp increase is linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving the US, Israel, and Iran, which has nearly halted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—a key route for global oil and LNG supplies—driving up fuel prices worldwide.
