Iran, South Africa FMs Discuss US-Israeli Attacks, Regional Security: Ministry
Tehran is defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity against an imposed war by the US and Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told his South African counterpart Ronald Lamola in a phone call, the South African foreign ministry announced.
Iran's restrictions on vessels linked to aggressors in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz are lawful, while safe passage for non-belligerent ships has been facilitated, Araghchi added.
South Africa condemned the attacks, called for dialogue, and agreed to continue consultations on political and economic issues.
Lamola "expressed our profound concern regarding the escalating loss of civilian life and the worsening humanitarian situation in the region."
