Nigeria’s Livestock Ministry Reaffirms Plan to Turn Sector Into $74 Bln Economic Powerhouse
The $50 billion investment initiative by the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture to boost the livestock sector is a timely move that aligns with a broader federal strategy, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Mukhtar Maiha said.
The livestock sector in Nigeria currently adds about $32 billion to the economy, but its overall potential is much higher, the minister stressed.
“We see the private sector not just as participants, but as the primary drivers of this economic revolution, with vast opportunities spanning agro-processing, animal health, and digital innovation,” he noted, speaking at the National Stakeholders Roundtable on Transforming the Livestock Sector in Abuja.
