Preserving Africa's Indigenous Sports Heritage: Ethiopia to Host First Traditional Games Festival
The African Traditional Sports and Games Festival is a major platform for showcasing unique national games and cultural exchange, Kay Kamatuwa Chirwa, the Chairman of the African Traditional Sports and Games Confederation (ATSGC), said.
“Ethiopia has been selected to host this competition because it is the cradle of African culture and history,” Chirwa emphasized.
The decision marks Africa's commitment to revitalizing, preserving, and developing indigenous sports and ethnic identity across the continent, the ATSGC stated.
The African Traditional Sports and Games Confederation and the Ethiopian Cultural Sports Federation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to prepare for the festival and develop its rules.
