Certain Countries Rejected UN Resolution on Political & Historical Motivation: Brazilian Cultural Foundation
The US, Israel and Argentina have not supported the UN resolution recognizing slavery as a crime against humanity due to their own interests, president of the Palmares Cultural Foundation João Jorge told Sputnik.
The US carried a direct history of slavery and racial inequality, while Israel's focus on territorial disputes does not align with the resolution, he stressed.
When it comes to Argentina, it avoids revisiting past decisions that affected the Black population, Jorge added.
