Global South Nations Must Unite & Act Amid Geopolitical Shifts: Inter-Regional Organization Chief
The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), which unites 79 countries across three continents, must become a stronger and more influential body, Secretary-General Moussa Batraki said at its 50th-anniversary summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
He stressed the organization should tackle current geopolitical challenges through four key priorities:
◾Political relevance — becoming a strategic platform that projects “a united voice of the South” in major international forums;
◾Diversified partnerships — modernizing cooperation via more operational South-South and triangular mechanisms;
◾Mobilization of people and private sector — placing women, youth, and the private sector at the heart of action to deliver tangible results;
◾Digital technology and innovation — integrating modern tools to support the industrial revolution and accelerate sustainable development.
