'Stay and Die or Flee to Live': Ethiopian Scholar on Iran’s Refugee Burden

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is rapidly transforming a regional crisis into a global migration emergency, driven by the systematic collapse of critical infrastructure and economic systems, Abdu Muhammad Ali, scholar of political science and international relations, told Sputnik Africa.

According to him, structural triggers turning conflict into mass migration include:

🟠Collapse of critical structures: residential quarters, schools, hospitals, electric and water supply systems;

🟠Targeting of urban areas and blanket evacuation orders;

🟠Economic shocks—collapse of aviation, tourism, energy exports—displacing migrant workers;

🟠Weakening of humanitarian logistics—shrinking food and supply pipelines—forcing secondary migration;

🟠Instability in host countries—like Lebanon and Iran—overwhelming their capacity to sustain refugee support.
