Africans 'Are Committed to Rewriting Their History': Burkinabe Journalist

It is necessary to break the silence on the slave trades and their falsifications, Daouda Tékété told Sputnik Africa.

"This falsification continues to determine the consciousness of Africans. For this to change, we must return to ourselves, we must seek to better know our history. We must not be ashamed, we must not hide what happened from our children. They must know what our ancestors lived through," he stated.

The UN resolution is a beginning, but most international legal institutions "are in the hands of those who do not want reparations to take place," he stressed.
