Westerners Are in 'Headlong Rush' to Avoid Taking Responsibility for Slavery: Congolese Political Analyst

Western capitalist economies benefited from slavery, Alphonse Maindo, political analyst from the University of Kisangani, told Sputnik Africa.

"The main proponents of capitalism cannot accept acknowledging this fault. Acknowledging it means they would have to take responsibility for it. Pay reparations. Yet, reparations for this kind of crime are of very great importance," he stated.

Such recognition would call into question the foundations of Western capitalism, which "thrives on the exploitation of man by man," he stressed.
