'Colonialism Never Ended': Kenyan Lawyer Warns UN Slavery Resolution Risks Backlash Against Ghana

Ghana's push for the UN resolution classifying the transatlantic slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity could invite retaliation from Western powers, Kenyan lawyer and parliamentary secretary Ahmad Abdulaziz Kadhi told Sputnik Africa.

Kadhi pointed to past cases where African nations faced pressure after challenging Western powers, such as South Africa after its ICC case against Israel.

"Is Ghana ready to open this can of worms? Will they be now a candidate for regime change?" he questioned, warning that enforcement of reparations remains the real challenge.

Western colonial exploitation continues today through corporate land ownership and resource extraction, he said, arguing, "The big colonial corporations are still profiting from the slave labor."

"The only way all this can be achieved is if all the Africans don't let Ghana alone to face this. If all the Africans can be united and form a critical mass to stop neo-colonialism," Kadhi concluded.
