UN Resolution on Slavery Shows That Africa Can Make Its Voice Heard, Says Cameroonian Geopolitical Analyst

By sponsoring this resolution, Ghana, backed by the AU, proves the continent is capable of standing up to claim its rights, Modeste Dossou told Sputnik Africa.

"For a long time, some tried to cover up slavery, it was overlooked. There were powers that did not want us to recognize this, and Africa did not have a strong voice."

Europe abstained from voting on the resolution to avoid assuming an "intergenerational responsibility", as well as to avoid paying reparations, he emphasizes.
