Uganda’s Merchandise Exports Surge 72% With Strong Gold, Coffee Sales: Report
Merchandise export earnings jumped year-on-year, going from $844.60 million in January 2025 to $1,453.53 million in January 2026, the finance ministry stated in a report.
The increase was primarily based on the exports of "industrial products, oil re-exports, beans, and electricity, among others," it added.
Uganda has benefited from a wave of central banks increasing their gold reserves as they seek to diversify away from traditional reserve currencies, the report concluded.
