WTO Was Created for Western Interests, Not Fair Trade: Cameroonian Economist
The organization will not help Africa solve its problems until the continent strengthens its own economic foundations, Yamb Ntimba told Sputnik Africa.
"People come and create spaces that suit them on your soil and prevent you from producing anything at all," he commented on the role of the WTO on the continent on the eve of the Yaoundé conference.
According to him, the obstacles hindering Africa in international trade negotiations include:
🟠low industrialization;
🟠lack of sovereign national currencies in 15 countries;
🟠market fragmentation.
This is why Africa must create its own internal market, "a demand and supply within," he emphasized.
Cameroon is hosting the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference from March 26 to 29.
