US Administration Stands Behind ‘Erasure’ of Black History, Ghana’s President Says
11:06 25.03.2026 (Updated: 11:49 25.03.2026) Black history courses are being removed from US school curricula, while institutions are ordered to halt teaching the “truth of slavery, segregation and racism,” and related books were increasingly banned, John Dramani Mahama stated.
"These policies are becoming a template for other governments as well as some private institutions," he said during the UN high-level event in New York.
A UNGA resolution declaring transatlantic slavery a crime against humanity and calling for reparations will be presented by Ghana, he added.
"The humanity and dignity of our ancestors and all Africans shall be restored," Ghana's foreign minister Samuel Ablakwa stressed.
