Algeria Launches Mining Operations at Zinc & Lead Deposits: Media

The extractions at one of the world's richest deposits—located in the northeastern district of Bejaia—aim to strengthen local industry and create new jobs, according to local media.

Key figures of the project, according to the press:

🟠Planned annual production: 170,000 tonnes of zinc and 30,000 tonnes of lead;

🟠Estimated reserves: approximately 34 million tonnes of ore;

🟠Expected annual turnover: nearly $215 million.

The project will not only meet national demand for these metals but also pave the way for exports, the media noted.

The video shows Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb inaugurating the project on Wednesday.
