Middle East Crisis May Cause Agriculture Disaster: French Geopolitical Analyst
Blocking the Strait of Hormuz could hinder fertilizer deliveries and have "cataclysmic" consequences, geopolitical analyst and strategy consultant Bertrand Scholler told Sputnik Africa.
"If Hormuz is blocked, gas and oil prices will rise, which is good for Russia, but bad for China which risks having difficulties in supplying itself. If Hormuz is blocked, part of the components allowing the production of fertilizers, to have a productive global agriculture, will be blocked," he noted.
According to Scholler, Israel and the United States are relatively protected from the consequences of the war they are triggering, unlike Europe, which will suffer significantly.
