SA's Messages on Human Rights Day: Standing Up at Home and Abroad—FM Lamola
Human Rights Day holds two commitments: South Africans stand for their rights at home and for the country's right to speak freely on the world stage—guided by the Constitution and UN Charter, Ronald Lamola told Sputnik Africa at the People's March in Defense of Sovereignty and Democratic Gains in Johannesburg.
He stressed that foreign policy flows from domestic care: the same constitution that protects all citizens, including minorities, drives the government to act when global crises hit home.
For example, as petrol prices rise due to the Strait of Hormuz disruption and Middle East tensions, the state is stepping in to cushion ordinary South Africans and guard against unfair pricing, the top diplomat noted.
