Ghana Greenlights Its First Lithium Project: Developer

Ghana's parliament has ratified a 15-year mining lease for the Ewoyaa Lithium project—a key milestone toward launching the country's first lithium mine, Atlantic Lithium announced.

According to the company's feasibility study, the mine is expected to produce nearly 3.6 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate over 12 years. This reportedly positions Ewoyaa as Africa's third-largest lithium project currently under development.

The company's local subsidiary will pay royalties on a sliding scale of 5% to 12%, linked to spodumene concentrate spot prices. Atlantic Lithium stressed that the project could enhance socioeconomic benefits for Ghanaians, particularly local communities, with over 800 direct jobs anticipated.
