Africa is Safest Haven in Terms of International Trade Amid Middle East Crisis: Pan-African Businessman

Africa could benefit from the Strait of Hormuz closure by "repositioning itself to be a trusted ally", as such turmoils affect the continent less, co-founder of the Africa Economic Leadership Council Percy Morapedi Koji told Sputnik Africa.

"However, from an economic and trade perspective, it affects us directly. This is a great opportunity to look at what sort of resources do we have that could be internalized in terms of beneficiation," he noted.

In the context that Africa pays $89 billion annually in external debt, the African Union's main objective should be strengthening trade across the continent, not building better financial services to reduce the financial gap and ensure potential economic growth, Koji stated.
